Hello, My names Melissa and I wanted to make this GoFundMe for my friend of 12 years, Katie.

In August of 2020 she found out that she was in stage 5 kidney failure. She’s been diabetic for 19 years and its finally taken a real toll on her body. She’s now on the transplant list for a kidney and pancreas. However, she needs to have major dental surgery before that can even happen. We just recently found out that she’s at the top of the list but will be passed until she has her dental surgery. She needs a whole mouth of extractions and implants. This is a very costly procedure and insurance doesn’t cover any of it. She has already had to pay for many other medical things leading up to this. I don’t want my friend to have to worry about continuously having to pay for these major medical bills. She also will have to still pay 20% of the transplant procedure.

I’ve been by her side since this entire journey has begun. Ive gone with her to her eye injection appts, to learn about dialysis if that is something she needs to start, and just help listen. One of the things that I’ve seen her struggle with is being able to afford all of this. The stress of what she’s going through medically and financially is taking a toll on her mental health. I would love to get her help with this financially as much as I can. If you can help in any way possible, even if that is just to share this, we would both really appreciate it.
