Her name is Holly Walton.
She's only 19 years old.
At the beginning of May, Holly had a scan on a lump in her neck, which detected shadowing of the thyroid gland. She had to wait months for that initial scan. They believe that this is probably cancerous and she's been waiting ever since for an Aspiration Test which removes cells to be tested.
Due to covid, there are currently over 300k people waiting for cancer treatments. With Holly living in the second most populous city and even asking for any cancellations, she have yet to receive an appointment for the test.
Sadly, she's probably quite far down the list.
Her parents have contacted a private clinic called Spire Little Aston who have quoted them for the test and for the treatments should she need a partial or full removal of the thyroid.
The initial consultation will cost between £150 to £200 depending on whether another scan is needed but they will have access to her original scan.
The Aspiration Test will cost £987 as a radiographer is needed alongside the clinician that will carry out the test.
Should it prove positive and she still can't be seen by the NHS for treatment, the cost of a partial removal of the thyroid is £4900 and a full removal £6500.
There will also be a few consultations needed between each stage at the cost of £150 per consultation.
The ongoing medication after this will be provided by the GP.
We are looking to initially raise £1300. This will cover the test and the consultations. If we find that it is indeed Cancer, we will be asking to raise a bit more.
But one step at a time.
Please, don't just make a difference. Make THE difference.
If we can help Holly, that's one less to wait. Lets give her the help she needs.
