A Service / Companion Dog For Pops
It wasn't until Pop's dog Brownie died that we noticed anything was wrong. You see my father whom we call Pop's has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it's fast progression is due to the fact that he was mostly symptom free until his faithful friend died. Brownie filled an emotional and psychological needs that slowed the disease. We have been told that he needs a companion / service Dog. We had no idea that there was a service dog that could help with Pop's symptoms or that this therapy Dog would cost so much!
These dogs are custom selected and trained according to each individual’s needs, and are not produced generically like other organizations. It has been found that each person has specific needs that are unique and special and these needs are addressed with a quality of dog trained to fit those specifics.
This dog would be at Pop's side 100% of the time helping to ease his anxiety by providing emotional support and companionship. Keeping Pops emotionally balanced helps his mental abilities and improves his quality of life. Pop's mentions every day is how he wishes he had his own Dog again.
As much as we would love to get this process started right away, financially this is out of our reach. These therapy dogs cost anywhere from $15 to $20,000. It is hard for our family to ask for help, but we desperately are searching for a way to decrease Pop's stress and fill his life with happy, safe memories instead of worrisome days. Any donation would help us to hit our goal of $15,000.00 This donation can change our Pop's life for the better.
