It's an urgent time. We in northern Gaza are now experiencing a full-blown famine. The crossings have been closed since March 1, 2025, and have been in effect for more than 70 days. The situation is worsening due to the lack of most basic food items and their skyrocketing prices. Any amount of money can help save my family's life.
Hello, my name is Miran Al-Madhoun, I am 30 years old, and I live in occupied Palestine — North Gaza. Before the war, I worked as a pharmacist, which I loved because it allowed me to help people in my community, especially the elderly and sick. My husband, Muhammad Ziyad , 35 years old , was a lawyer, and together we were building a simple and stable life for our children: Ziad (6 years old) and Mirna (3 years old).
We live now in northern Gaza after the temporary ceasefire agreement in January 2025. After being displaced and moved between tents and shelters for about a year and a half to the southern Gaza Strip, and more than six times, during which we experienced all kinds of pain and suffering, I returned to my home, which miraculously escaped total demolition after suffering significant damage from several rocket attacks. Fortunately, it remains habitable.
I have two children, Ziad, 6 years old, and his sister Mirna, 3 years old. We were living a good life before the current war in the Gaza Strip.

After the genocide , my children, like the rest of the children in Gaza, lived a poor life in a shelter containing more than 300 people.
My two children were exposed several times to various viral infections due to the inappropriate life, the large mixing between the displaced people in the shelter, and moving between different shelters and tents more than once.
My husband has completely lost his legal profession. His office was fully destroyed — furniture, equipment, computers, files, and legal documents. Courts and legal centers were also destroyed, meaning he cannot return to work for 3–4 years or more, even after the war ends.
Since the beginning of the war in Gaza until today, we have had no source of income. All our savings were depleted during displacement, especially with skyrocketing prices due to scarcity and closed crossings.
The new place that I have been displaced for for the sixth time, the place is very narrow and is in a shelter divided into small rooms using plastic sheets, this place is better than the tent with regard to high temperatures and exposure to direct sunlight. Thank God anyway.
Since May 1, 2024, my family and I have been displaced for the fifth time from Rafah to the northern Khan Yunis area. My family and I lived in a tent for the first time, and it was extremely difficult.
The tent is made of plastic (nylon) and has an area of 4 x 4 square meters, in an area far from all services, including water, electricity, internet, and drinking water. I was getting most of the needs after a lot of effort and suffering. I walk hundreds of meters a day, several times, to fill up drinking water, get internet, or charge my phone.
Water intended for drinking is often contaminated and mixed with impure water. This water caused us to suffer from gastroenteritis and the accompanying vomiting, diarrhea, and other symptoms. There are many widespread diseases, especially hepatitis, as a result of the inability to maintain cleanliness continuously.
During the early morning hours we had to leave the tent and look for another place away from the sun. Temperatures inside the tent rise to 45-50 degrees Celsius.
During one of the harshest periods of displacement, my family of 3 and I lived in a small room in a shelter housing about fifty small families. The room was only about eight square meters and was used for everything: sitting, cooking, eating, sleeping, praying, and more.
I spent more than half of my life in successive wars that began in 2000 AD with the start of the Al-Aqsa Intifada until the present day. I lived through many of the wars that Gaza was exposed to, specifically in the years 2008, 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2021, during which the people of Gaza were exposed to hundreds of hideous massacres, in addition to the sabotage and destruction that these wars inflicted on Gaza and were reflected in all aspects of life throughout those years.
During this war in Gaza -Palestine, which continues to this day, my house was subjected to major damage. This led to vandalism and destruction of the ceiling, walls, tiles, decor, doors of the house, etc., and also caused almost complete damage and the loss of the majority of the contents. The house, especially the furniture, wooden doors of the rooms, entire windows, electrical appliances, and children’s toys, and everything in my home.
Here are some pictures of them in our partially destroyed house.

In addition to Total destruction and direct targeting of the solar system, which I have been relying on mainly due to the scarcity of electric current and its interruption for long hours on a daily basis and for many years.

It also shows my husband’s office, which was the only source of income, destroyed along with furniture, electrical appliances, laptops, important files, and most of the offices related to his work such as courts and prosecutions, which exposes us to losing financial income for 3–4 years or more.
In the preparation of food, we often rely on some canned food that arrives to Gaza from outside, in addition to some grains such as lentils and rice, which are available in a scarce way in Gaza.
Obtaining vegetables has become a very difficult task, due to its scarcity and scarcity of some of them, and their prices have risen to 10 times or more, as a result of the absence of any land farming operations since 5 months since the beginning of the war in Gaza, with an almost complete lack of all kinds of fruits, because they did not enter through aid. or crossings.
I am now displaced for the fourth time to the Rafah area in southern Gaza Strip. Because the place where I was with my family and children was damaged, today we are facing great difficulties in moving from one place to another since the beginning of the war, as a result of the scarcity of transportation and the high transportation prices in conjunction with our transfer and displacement 4 times between the governorates to the tents and some different places, in addition to Fatigue and suffering as a result of the transfer of some supplies such as covers and bedding and others. We also face many daily problems as a result of the scarcity of food and other supplies and the high prices of tens, which forced us to spend large sums of money without any financial income in the current period as a result of the continuation of the war in Gaza.
My children are exposed almost weekly and continuously to infections and diseases as a result of the spread of various viruses, and these infections are accompanied by many worrying symptoms such as high temperature and persistent cough.
the situation Every day, it gets worse, especially as we are coming to the holy month of Ramadan, when the expenses are higher than on normal days.
I need support from friends abroad to help rebuild and repair partial damages to our home, replace lost items, and purchase necessary furniture and appliances. Also, to continue our daily lives as before the war, or enable us to travel outside Gaza, or set up a suitable small business to generate income after losing my husband’s profession for many years.
