My Cancer Story

My name is Diane Scaccia Howell I found out I had colon cancer during a colonoscopy on August 3rd of this year. It was very shocking to everyone. I took it in with strength while watching my daughter break down. My daughter and I live together with my grandson who's 3 years old and my granddaughter who is 4 months old in hopes of saving any money we can. This was a big surprise to all of us. I had my colon resection surgery done on the 18th and removed almost a foot of my colon and lymph nodes outside of the colon as well. My daughter is amazing and was by my side the whole time. I was out of work for a month with my family trying to help out as much as possible. I do have my good days and bad days when it comes to just everyday tasks. Enjoy every moment because you will never know if it's your last! We found out that 9 out of 21 of the Lymph nodes came out positive for cancer ..scary thought. I decided to create this in hopes of helping my daughter with all of our bills and my health bills. I had to go have a PET scan done today to see if the cancer has spread to any other organ and it cost 300$ that was the last of my money. I am trying to stay positive about all of this but I am human it is hard. We know that I will have to have a port put in soon and chemo. Once I start trying to work I'll be missing quite a bit. I have been starting to feel helpless and I think it's killing me more than this cancer is. I just gotta stay positive! Anything will help. God bless and thank you all.
