Peyton's Peace: Helping Grieving Families
Donation protected
IN MEMORY OF MISS PEYTON, WE PRESENT PEYTON'S PEACE
We are starting a non-profit that will provide other Michigan families that have lost a child to a life-threatening or terminal illness with opportunities for their grieving family. We are at the beginning stages of the research and collecting of ideas of what this will look like. Each family will have unique needs and ideas, and we look forward to being a "peace" of their story. We hope to provide some peace and comfort as families face a new life, one that has no road map.
We believe in creating meaningful opportunities for families to honor their children through memorials, events or special projects. Families will have the chance to choose the option that resonates most with them. We will help them create a memorial or dedication, whether it's planting a tree, placing a bench or coming up with unique ideas of their own. Event options may allow families to attend concerts of their childs favorite artist, sporting events of their child's favorite team, or enjoy a family weekend getaway. While choosing an opportunity to create a special project, the family will be allowed to give back to a community that has had extra meaning to their family and their loss.
Your generous donations will help make these heartfelt experiences possible, we appreciate your support in celebrating the lives of these cherished children.
When you have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness, the family is often defined by this. The family evolves around the child and their medical condition. I have come to find once you lose the child, life changes in more ways than you can imagine. The team of people that helped support your child also goes away. Families are left with an emptiness that has no comparison. The child and the people that your days were structured around suddenly are gone, and life is so empty with a void of nothing you could anticipate.
I feel like giving a family something to look forward to is extremely helpful. We want to give these special families a place or person where they can go to and not feel alone as they process their loss and their lives as they recreate their family.
Peyton was born 13 weeks premature on November 15, 2005, in Detroit, MI. Peyton passed away on January 20, 2023 after a short time in hospice care. Peyton had multiple medical conditions, including cerebral palsy, and required assistance with all facets of life. Despite her needs, Peyton had a remarkable impact on others in her 17 short years. She was full of joy and laughter; never had a complaint. Peyton’s only “boy problem” consisted of having 5 younger brothers, in which she embraced the chaos with a great sense of humor. Peyton never had any worries or anger. She was all happiness. She was a lover of music; her favorite song was “Old McDonald.” There will never be a moment she is forgotten.
We are fundraising to support Michigan families who have lost a child to a life-threatening or terminal illness.
