Making Dreams Come True

Having terminal breast cancer is no fun! I'm only 37. There are so many things that I still want to do. I met the man of my dreams only 7 months ago. I want to get married, and travel with him. I want to go on a girls trip with my best friends, who have been by my side the entire time.
I was originally diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 33. I did everything I was told to. I even became vegan. It came back 5 years later, and now it's in my bones. Just like my mother's cancer did when I was 19. She died in 2000. Now that I'm facing the same situation, it is very surreal.
I was working as a 4th grade teacher at an inner city charter school. I had to leave during the last 9 weeks due to this diagnosis. Telling my kids I had to leave wasn't something I ever wanted to do to them. I chose to work at this school because I could relate to them, and their struggles. I grew up in Gary IN as a biracial child. My mom was a single mother. I know what it's like to be poor. To have people walk in and out of your life. I wanted to be the one who stayed for my kids, but unfortunately cancer had a different agenda.
One of my best friends suggested a GoFundMe page. We started talking about all the things I want to do and see before my date will be like my moms. I want to live, and I'm not giving up. I read and research every day alternative therapies. Things not covered by insurance.
I want to write a book about my journey through all this. Hopefully it will help others who are facing the same fate. I would love to see the Eiffel Tower. I want to drive a race car around a track. There is so much I want to do, and not enough time. Words can't begin to articulate how much I appreciate your support in making my dreams come true.
Love,
Megan
