My name is Casey Shannon. My Father-in-Law Joey Dukes went to be with the Lord last night under unfortunate circumstances. He leaves behind his loving wife of thirty one years Maria, son Joseph, daughter Christina, sisters Patricia and Renee, brothers Kelly and Alan, and grandchildren Avaleigh and Jameson.

Joey was a troubled man who struggled with addiction for the greater part of his adult life.  A self-made and self-reliant survivor of a painful and difficult childhood, Joey aspired to provide a better life for his children.   Joey loved the Lord and loved his family more than anything, but despite his lifelong battle with alcoholism and resilience to allowing his misfortune to bring him down, on the evening of Monday March 14, Joey’s despondence with his life circumstances and guilt over his past actions became too much for his spirit to bear and consequences of his addiction led him to end his own life.

We are striving to raise money to help with funeral and burial services, as the circumstances surrounding Joey's unexpected death have placed his family in a position of financial hardship.  Your contributions mean more than words can say and will go a long way in ensuring Joey’s family is able to honor his memory for the good man we all knew him to be.
