Petru Gherasim, 66, of Brentwood, CA, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2022. Petru grew up in Suceava, Romania and in his late 20’s, made the incredible and courageous journey to the United States. He travelled across the United States living in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Leandro, and settling in Brentwood where he built his home.

With support from his community when he immigrated, Petru was able to start his business from the ground up. He created a succesful business with a strong reputation and always leant a hand to those who needed it. He provided stability for his family who continue on the legacy of his integrity and knowledge.

In Los Angeles, he met Rodica Iacob, and they wed in 1988, going on to have six children, Joseph, Jonathan, Janelle, Joshua, Jeremiah, and Jennifer.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being in nature any time he could, often taking his family camping, boating, hiking, and biking in the national parks across California, recently favoring the Northern California Coast. His favorite areas included the Redwood, Klamath, and Shasta-Trinity Forests as well as Yosemite and MacKerricher State Park in Mendocino County.

He was creative, inventive, strong, and smart. He was a pillar in his community and as his family grew, he turned his focus to nurture his children, becoming the pillar in his family and providing them a beautiful life.

He is survived by his wife, Rodica; Brother, Genovel; Sisters, Estera and Marcela; Children, Joseph, Jonathan, Janelle, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jennifer; and his grandchild, Dominic. He will be greatly missed and his passions, strength, and creativity live on through his family.
