My name is Monika and I am raising money to help my mother, Petra. 

My mom suffered a stroke on April 15th and during the testing process at the hospital they found a mass in her lung. After lots of testing, the oncologist confirms that she has stage 3 non-small cell adenocarcinoma (lung cancer). The Oncologist and Radiologist immediatly start working on her treatment plan and she is set to start chemo and radiation.
During this entire process her vision, balance and coordination is off and she is having slight headaches. Her Oncologist refers her to get one more MRI. On May 26th we find out that her cancer has spread to her brain (3 tumors) and was most likely there before, causing the stroke that started it all. Hearing the doctor say "Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer" was definitely one of the most unexpected and terrifying things you can hear!
Her treatment plan completely changed and had to start all over with the planning process. Her new treatment plan includes, immunotherapy and radiation treatments on the the brain. She is on her way to recovery!!

Prior to April 15th, my mom ran her dog a mile EVERY SINGLE DAY, worked a more than full time job, never had any health problems and got regular check ups. She is 64 years old. 
She has used all of her vacation/sick time and is on FMLA.  Her family has been a huge support in all aspects but she does live alone so her income is the only income. While she hopes to go back to work soon and she does have insurance,  FMLA doesn't pay time off. With her medical bills, co-pays almost everyday and her living expenses, bills are piling up.
