Great Dane In Need

Update: June 17, 2018
Knight has had some complications which have extended his stay at the hospital. We did not anticipate that the surgery would take such a toll on him, but, it did. He is a fighter and as such, he continues to amaze us. Doc’s feel it necessary that he stay in the hospital until Monday, if all goes well he gets to come home to his foster. Please share and or donate! Thanks!

Update:
Great News, the owner has agreed to surrender this big boy and a foster and rescue have been found. This big boy will be going to Pet Matchmaker which means your donations will be tax deductible.

It has been a frustrating couple of weeks but we have managed to convince the owner that he is better off surrendering this poor baby.

I have managed to collect $145 thus far but am looking at collecting more. Initial vet estimate including complete exam, blood work, neuter, and sedation for several x-rays to manipulate all his joints and see if the leg needs to be broken and reset the or to see if amputation is needed.  Preliminary estimate of $600-$800 with additional costs for possible ampuation and recovery.

Story:
This beuatiful 1.5 year old Great Dane is in serious need of medical attention.  He is currently with his owner in Compton, CA.  I'm setting up this campaign because the owner can't afford the medical care.

Although,  I'm sure this gentleman's intent was to give this guy a good home.  He has not been able to do so, as it is apparent based on photo's of the yard, the dog, his calouses and the severity of the injury.

The owner clearly has no clue about providing basic care for any breed.  Let alone any giant breed that is prone to bloating and arthritis.   He obviously lacks knowledge of the breed and the medical care they require.   We understand the urgecny of the situation, we are trying to avoid the dog going to a shelter, as based on our experience he will languish there without medical care, which can lead to this boy bloating from stress.

Our goal is to get him into a rescue/ foster as soon as possible and we are working on getting the owner to surrender him.  Although not an ideal situation, I'm trying to get everything in place so that he can go straight to rescue when and if the owner surrenders him.

Please donate what you can.  I have a goal of $5000.00 as I need to get him to a vet first to see what he will need.  Again, I get being angry at the owner.  As I'm sitting here typing this I want to just cry because I can not understand how someone can let an animal suffer like that.  Let's do this for the doggy as he needs the help.
