Pete's Journey: Overcoming Early Trauma

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stacy, and I’m fundraising for our sweet cat, Pete.

Pete was born around October 2023 and had a rough start to life. At just six weeks old, he was brought to an emergency vet with severe head trauma. He lost one of his eyes and was taken into rescue. Around four months old, Pete joined our cat-loving home—and we’ve adored him ever since.

But Pete’s journey hasn’t gotten any easier.

In April 2024, Pete began having serious trouble breathing. After more vet visits and tests, we learned that several of his teeth had grown into his sinus cavity—likely due to his early head trauma. He underwent surgery to remove the teeth and a cyst in his sinuses.

Even after healing, Pete has had ongoing medical needs. He has very narrow nasal passages and struggles to breathe comfortably. He also has a near-constant post-nasal drip, and we have to clean his nose several times a day.

Then, just a few days ago, we faced a terrifying emergency. Pete suddenly couldn’t close his mouth—it was stuck open. We rushed him to the emergency veterinary hospital. After tests and calls to specialists, they discovered Pete was suffering from lockjaw due to deformities in his skull from that early trauma. His jaw had to be manually repositioned, and in the meantime, he needed specialized feeding and fluids.

In just two days, Pete’s emergency bill totaled $1,500. And we know this won’t be the last time Pete needs special care. He will likely face lifelong health challenges—but we’re committed to giving him the best life possible.

Despite everything, Pete is the sweetest, most loving cat. He’s gentle, cuddly, and incredibly affectionate. He’s easygoing 90% of the time—even with his medical needs. He’s a fighter, and he fills our home with love.

We’re asking for help to cover Pete’s emergency veterinary bill and to support his ongoing care. Every donation—big or small—means the world to us and to Pete.

Thank you so much for reading, sharing, and supporting our little fighter.

It was hard to find many pics of Pete alone, because everyone loves him so much he's always cuddling or playing so enjoy these pics of Pete from the beginning to now with his furry family!
