Elliots Medical Expenses

As many of you are starting to find out Elliot has been diagnosed with stage four testicular cancer. This has come to be a surprise to not only me as his wife, but the entire community and his family. Elliot is half way done through his senior year of college, and should be starting his senior year of football and  graduating in December of this year. This has been hard not only on our family but also the community. As a young newlywed couple we did not anticipate for this to happen at such a young age. I was able to graduate in December from college and was fortunate to get a great job with good health benefits.  We are still unaware of the financial costs this is going to put on our family. With just one person in the home working I can only imagine the costs of treatment and the hospital stays. Money will never be more important that my husbands health and life, but as you know money makes the world go round. Elliot will be going through four rounds of chemotherapy and it will take 9 to 12 weeks. With Elliot only being 21 years old and having to go through chemo it is a concern to doctors that he may not have children. We are going to be starting a sperm bank in order for us to have the chance for children one day. This is also an expence that we have to acknolwedge going into this battle. Elliot during this time will not be strong enough to work and help with financial costs since he will be very weak due to the chemotherapy. I ask our friends and family to help with whatever they can whether it be support, prayers or financials. Elliot has always been there for everybody and has never not been a friend to those in the community. He has been a great student and athlete to Eastern New Mexico. We are grateful for our heavenly father who has blessed us with the comfort of our surrounding community, friends and family. We will forever remember this time in our life, and be grateful for all the blessings that continue to come our way. Alofa Atu
