Peter’s Voyage 2024

I am a 22 year old avid explorer and long distance athlete who is a passionate advocate for environmental conservation, sustainability and the great outdoors. My name is Peter Frank, and I have dedicated my time and efforts to exploring our wonderful planet through unconventional modes of transportation.

Expedition Overview:

Name: Great Loop Project

Duration: 3 to 6 months

Estimated Departure: June 1st, 2024

Details: The entire expedition is roughly 2,400 miles and will be traveled solely by canoe, just as the late 18th century voyageurs and French Canadians. The route intended is part of a 6,000 mile water trail of what's called the "Great American Loop" consisting of the Mississippi River Delta, Gulf Coast of Mexico, Circumnavigation of Florida, East Coast of the US, Hudson River, Erie Canal/Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and the Illinois River. Over the last two years I have completed more than half of this route by canoe (4,600 miles including the entire Mississippi). My intended route is just under 7,200 miles once complete.

Objective: The Great Loop Project is a story about living, it underlines a deep longing for adventure in the hearts of men and women. During the length of this expedition I plan on filming a documentary series showcasing the life and wonder I'll experience throughout the months I'm traveling. This documentary will also expose young minds to the beauty of our world and instill in them a deep sense of responsibility for the environment from the educational materials I plan to provide. I have also tailored an ensemble which will be worn during the entirety of the expedition, comprised of an 18th century tricorne, and leather roll down boots; both hand sewn from deer skin hide, linen trousers and work shirt, leather belt, linen sash, bandana, and neckerchief with a sepia/leathery color palate. The ensemble has been primarily hand tailored and designed by myself over the last two years. The exhibition is a performance art that will dive into the philosophies, ethics, and arguments of modern fashion, and loss of creative outlets that have recently transitioned into corporate reliance for manufacturing and mass production.

Funding: I am requesting $3,000 for necessities during this expedition, including food, camera equipment so I may effectively document the journey, and a GPS so that I can share my live location with my audience.
