If you know me, you also know how obsessed I am with golf. When my Granddad introduced me to the game at the age of 10, I instantly fell in love with the sport. Ever since, I have lived and breathed all things golf. A few years ago, enduring what you might call a quarter-life crisis and unsure about what I really wanted to do with my life, my father encouraged me to turn pro. Do what you love, he said, and everything else will fall into place. I had my doubts at first; I was always a good player (successful junior and collegiate career), but I knew the gap between myself and the guys on tour was substantial. To close that gap would require immense sacrifices. I would have to leave behind the promise of a steady income, a number of personal relationships would falter, and I would be unable to lead a 'normal' lifestyle.
Thank God that I made that choice. I am happier now than I've ever been and my game has made enormous strides the past three years. It hasn't all been gravy and I've incurred setbacks along the way. For example, I had to forgo Canadian Tour Q-school this past spring after needing an emergency surgical procedure in the late winter of 2016. The recovery was physically and mentally taxing, and took much longer than I anticipated. Alas; I have rebounded, come out stronger, and am playing the best golf of my life.
I plan to spend the season of 2016-2017 pursuing Q-school for PGA Tour LatinoAmerica (winter), PGA Tour Canada (spring) and finally the Web.com Tour (fall). Getting my PGA card is the next big step in my playing career. To enter these Q-schools requires a significant amount of money. I will undoubtedly need outside financial assistance to realize my dream. Hence, my outreach and hope that many of you will consider making a contribution towards this cause.
Your contribution will go towards my Q-school entry fees, entry fees for each tournament, and travel costs incurred while moving throughout South and North America.
