Our sweet Petey crossed the Rainbow Bridge

Our sweet Petey started having trouble urinating. After the test and x-rays, we learned he had a massive tumor in his bladder and it had grown into his urethra tube. We had no choice but to let our precious Petey cross over the rainbow bridge. If you would like to donate towards his final expenses it would be greatly appreciated.

This is Peter, before and after. We were asked if we could help him by Wake County Shelter. We initially said no because we just don’t have room or the money to take another dog, but I couldn’t turn my back.

Here is the summary on Peter: Vet Notes: 11:47 AMS/O: Patient tries to bite and growls when examined. The patient has thick green crusts around the eyes. An ophthalmic exam reveals corneal hyperpigmentation. The patient has diminished vision. PE also reveals that the patient is non-ambulatory. Pelvic limbs cross and are extended with minimal deep pain sensation. The patient is missing fur along the dorsum. A: Hind limb paralysis. Rule out IVDD, trauma, and others. Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca. Chronic skin disease, rule out allergic, metabolic, other. Instilled artificial tears OU. It may be unsafe to treat with topical eye medication due to the patient's demeanor. Peter would likely be a hospice rescue placement if available. Otherwise, the patient should not be rehomed.

Our excellent vet team, VCA Triangle Tower, jumped into action. They sedated Peter to get X-rays, and examined and shave him down. He has a compressed disk, which may heal with rest and pain medication. If not he will need surgery. He can only see shadows. His blood work came back good though. We need prayers and funds to help this baby.
