Our friend Peter Vecchio, who most affectionately know as ‘Peter the Dog Walker,’ who for years had been a beloved fixture of the Hamlets of Rockland Community, and who volunteers his time at the Rock Church Food Pantry was involved in a terrible bike accident.

He’s in good spirits as you can see, but has suffered an injury that will yield a long and costly recovery.

He is in the ICU and has 4 broken ribs with adjacent pleural reaction. A chest tube had to be placed in order to remove over 2 liters from around his lungs (blood and air was trapped between his lungs and the surrounding tissue pushing up on his lung).

He still has a blood clot which may need to be surgically removed. And, currently he has lost 10-15% of lung capacity on his left side due to trapped lung, which he may be able to compensate for over time.

Anything you can offer to help with towards the cost of his recovery and his medical bills would be greatly appreciated.
