.
We are raising money for Widower Peter and his 5 children , in Nunavut . Who’s mother / wife just lost her battle with Covid 19 that she contracted in the hospital while delivering a baby girl.

On Jan 2 , 2021. Silatik Qavvik ( Peters Wife ) age 35. Lost her battle with covid 19 in a Winnipeg hospital.
She was diagnosed with covid 19 in late November , just a day after delivering her 5th child . A beautiful baby girl.
Immediately, mother and newborn were separated as the child was also diagnosed with the illness.
The newborn daughter has since recovered .
For almost a month Silatik was unresponsive on a ventilator in intensive care.

Unfortunately mother and daughter did not have the chance to be together over the course of the month before she passed .

I met Peter in Sanikikuaq, Nunavut 5 years ago while I was working in the community.
I was always interested in the Inuit culture and Peter was part of a group of local hunters who took me out regularly and tought me their ways as well as showed me around the beautiful islands they reside on .
Peter always appeared to me to be a family oriented man. He was always kind hearted and selfless in our interactions.

Peter held a job in Nunavut as the personal aid to the local MLA.   He worked hard and was always there to help his community .
Most recently Peters work has been in the local schools , teaching traditional craft and skills to the Inuit children . Peter will be unable to return to work for the coming year. Also , Peter was one of the hunters in the community that would always come home after a long day on the land or on the water and share his catch with anyone in need within his community of Sanikiluaq.

Upon her passing Peters wife leaves behind her loving husband and 5 children.

I fully understand that there is no amount of money that can put Peters heart at ease. But it is my hope and wish to give him an opportunity to make positive decisions for himself and his children ,all while reminding him that he is not alone.

Peter deserves a chance to be rewarded for his selflessness and his positive attitude towards life .

Furthermore he deserves to be able to move forward with his life in the near future with as little turbulence as possible.

Please to all those who read . Make a donation to a man and family who’s life has been turned upside down ,during what is supposed to be a “bringing families together time of the year  ".
