PETER OLADO

My heart is burdened as I share this GoFundMe campaign for my close friend, Peter Olado, also known as Pedro, who has recently departed. Peter was a lively and cherished member of our community; recognized for his contagious smile, his consistent compassion, and his strong dedication to assisting others. His absence has deeply affected everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
On May 23rd, 2024, Peter was discovered unconscious. Medical personnel were alerted and responded to the situation, but sadly, Peter could not be resuscitated. It is believed that he passed away due to a heart attack. Despite extensive efforts from the medical staff, they were unable to revive his heart or brain activity. Peter was subsequently declared deceased at the hospital.
Peter and his family experienced significant difficulties in the past year before he passed away unexpectedly. In June 2023, their apartment building was extensively damaged by a fire, resulting in the loss of their home and most of their belongings. This period was especially challenging for Miryam Olado, Peter’s wife, who was reportedly pregnant with their third child at the time. The stress from the fire had a profound impact on her and caused health complications for her unborn baby. Shortly after they relocated from Humboldt, SK to Delta, BC in July 2023, she gave birth prematurely to a baby with lung issues.
In early December 2023, the Olado family made the difficult choice to remove their infant son from life support after four months, as his condition was considered incurable. Their pain continued when Miryam's mother also passed away a few weeks later, adding to their sorrow.
Peter started his Canadian journey in 2014 when he moved to Edmonton, AB from the Philippines to provide for his family. After facing uncertainty about obtaining Permanent Residency in Alberta, he relocated to Humboldt in 2018 and secured a job at Tim Hortons, where he worked for five years. During this period, he obtained permanent residency and was able to support his family back home. He also saved up enough money to bring his wife, Miryam, and two young sons, Blake and Kiko, to Canada in the first half of 2022. This marked the end of seven years of long-distance separation as well as Peter’s first meeting with his youngest son, Kiko.
Sadly, life had more challenges in store for Peter and his family. Even in his darkest moments, Peter remained steadfast in his faith and continued to find solace in his close-knit community. As we grieve the loss of our dear friend, we are deeply concerned about the well-being of Yamy and her two surviving sons, Blake and Kiko.
This GoFundMe campaign is established to assist the Olado family during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised will go towards covering the funeral expenses, as well as providing financial assistance to Yamy and her children as they navigate the aftermath of this tragic loss. Peter's life, though cut short, was filled with love, compassion, and a deep desire to make the world a better place.
