Peter Mulroy’s Fight

Donation protected
This GoFund me page has been set up by Peter’s Family, Peter has stage 4 (terminal) cancer. My Husband Peter Mulroy initially was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer Stage 3 in October 2021. At the time, we were advised that the treatment plan for my Husband was Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy with the view to having surgery in the coming months. However, Peter had a reaction to the Radiotherapy resulting in admission to the hospital.
When he was discharged he commenced Chemotherapy, he had a reaction to his treatment resulting in him back in hospital. This inevitably resulted in the treatment plan being delayed. It was later revised and amended to support him. His surgery was brought forward and following his surgery he acquired a stoma bag. He has had multiple admissions to hospital since January 2021. His journey has been a rollercoaster from one week to the next since his initial diagnosis.
When we finally thought we were turning a corner my Husband was admitted into hospital again before Christmas as he had pains in his back. The doctor sent him for scans and a pet scan. When they had the results from this they rang us to come just before Christmas, where we got the worst news possible that his cancer was terminal.
Understanably any cancer diagnosis is a shock and we as a family were stunned as my husband is a young man in his forties. While no family believes they will ever have to deal with cancer, we certainly didn’t think in our young healthy years we would face such a challenge. We have four beautiful children together and three amazing grandkids. Our youngest child, aged seven has Down Syndrome and has type 1 diabetes insulin dependant. She has ongoing health issues that require full time attention also.
And in all of this, Life goes on. My husband Peter worked as a paver and a few years prior to this he was self employed as a milkman for Dawn Dairies. He has been out of work since October 2020 so our income was reduced. Peter has always been the breadwinner in our home.
The reason we set up this page is because when my Husbands parents passed away he was left the family home which needed a lot of renovations to make it liveable. My Husbands dreams and our dreams have been to move up there with our family. This home means so much to him. However the house is in need of a lot of care, which is the reason we set up this page is to raise some funds in fulfilling his dreams. The past year and a half through all his good and bad days my Husband has struggled to work on this house. Some days he can only hung a door, more days he can paint a room, his determination is a credit to him, he has done some fantastic work in the house.
The remaining parts in the house are new windows and doors, a kitchen and a bathroom. We would love to raise enough funds to allow Peter to fulfil his dreams of living in the family home for however long he has watching his kids grow up and grandkids making amazing memories with us all and to have him comfortable with less stress for him to worry about. No matter how tired or sick he has been feeling he has put everyone else’s feelings before his own.
We would be so grateful for any donations as every little bit helps and gets us as a family a step closer to fulfilling our dreams together.
Peter we love you and we are so proud of your fight and your fantastic positivity threw out this journey especially on social media keeping everyone updated.
