Row for Peter

In memory of my Daddy, Peter Kearney, whom we sadly lost to cancer on 13th October 2025, I will be taking on an 81km rowing challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie.

In his final weeks and days, both Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie provided incredible care and support, not only to Daddy, but to all of our family. Their kindness and help during such a difficult time meant so much to us, and we want to give something back so other families can receive that same support when they need it most.

All money raised will be split equally between Macmillan Cancer Support (specifically restricted to the new build of the cancer cente at Antrim Area Hospital) and Marie Curie.

The 81km challenge represents one kilometre for every year of Daddy’s life.

This is very much a family challenge, and the goal is to complete the full 81km on one Concept2 rowing machine without the rower stopping.

We would love for family and friends to come along and be part of it. If you would like to take part in the row, you can drop in at any time throughout the day and do whatever you can, whether that’s a few strokes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or more.

Depending on how many people volunteer to help complete the challenge, the row could take anywhere from 6–8 hours, so I’m really hoping plenty of people can come along and help me out — otherwise I could be there all night!

The challenge will take place on Saturday 1st August from 8am at Avenge CrossFit, 5 McKinney Road, Mallusk, Newtownabbey, BT36 4PE.
