Thank you for taking the time to read my Go Fund Me page for the funeral of Peter Christopher Foden.

Pete was a son to Margaret, Brother to Ian and Uncle to Kyveli and Dylan.

He was a happy go lucky kid, had few cares in the world growing up in the 80s, had a big infectious smile and was the life and soul of a party, always the lark and cracking the jokes.

Through his school years and in to his teens, he was a loveable cheeky character. He loved his dogs, especially Shadow and Buster, loved computers and playing the guitar with our late Step Father Gordon.

Pete's main interest and hobby in life was his art, he loved to draw and sketch and built quite the portfolio of portraits, tattoo art and comic art. Art really was his passion, he was always learning new techniques and ways to express himself with his pencils, always shading away and would have loved this to have somehow become a full time job.

Sadly, the cheeky happy Pete that we remember started to change and become withdrawn in his mid to late 20s. There were times of toxic relationships, in and out of jobs and bouts of depression.

Pete found rationalising the ups and downs of life to be difficult and in late 2010, he found that he had a cyst on his brain that may have always been there from birth growing slowly each year. This cyst may have been the reason Pete changed in his late 20s, becoming distant to his friends and eventually cutting them off completely.

He had a successful operation to remove the cyst but the operation itself was quite intrusive to the brain and this left Pete in later life suffering from depression, paranoia and struggling to understand his place in the world.

We moved him closer to myself on the South Coast in 2015 for a fresh start but his paranoia and mental health pulled him deeper into depression. I was volunteering for the RNLI at this time so he popped in on Sunday's to watch and help out, I hoped he may have joined the Shore Crew to keep him busy, but his mental health deteriorated and he couldn't cope. He soon moved back to the North and settled in Rhyl closer to Mum.

As a family we always helped him, encouraged him, advised where we could and tried to get help for him through MIND and local organisations but he always knew best and put on an 'I'm ok' face when confronted by Drs or Specialists whom agreed that he was 'just fine'

We as family knew he wasn't fine, his paranoia reached such levels that he believed he was being broken in to constantly to steal petty things. He claimed he was writing famous songs that had been stolen by famous artists and had written famous books that had been stolen too.

Most recently Pete had become reclusive and Mum found contacting him was becoming increasingly more difficult. He was no longer responding to calls or social media messages. On Jan 18, he was reporting missing.

Out of the blue on Friday 19 Jan Mum received a call to say that he had been found in Belfast and was well. We will never know why he was there, all we know is the authorities contacted Mum, she paid for his ticket and they were sending him back home on the ferry from Belfast to the UK.

Mum headed to the docks to meet him on the morning of Saturday 20 Jan 2024, but he never came home.

When the alarm was raised that he hadn't disembarked, CCTV was searched and a lone bag was found by the railing of the 7th deck. CCTV confirmed the most heart breaking news, he had jumped overboard.

It breaks my heart to not understand how he was feeling or that we couldn't help him and that this is what he wanted. Pete jumped around 0500 that morning and after searches from 4 Lifeboat Stations including his home station at Rhyl and the help of a Coastguard Helicopter, he was found around 1100 and airlifted to Aintree Hospital with a faint pulse but sadly died of Hypothermia from drowning.

We will be forever grateful to the Crews of the Lifeboats and the Coastguard for bringing Pete home that day and for doing their best for him.

Unfortunately Pete didn't have a funeral plan or anything of value or left any money. As a family we recently had to come together to fund our late step father's funeral so we are left at a loss as to how we can give Pete a beautiful and deserving send off.

We are hoping with this link we can gratefully accept any donations that you may be able to offer to help with is funeral arrangements.

He will be greatly missed by so many people, if only he knew how many people cared and loved him.

Thank you so much in advance of any help you can offer.

Rest in peace my brother, I will miss you dearly on the rest of the journey.

Your brother,

Ian
