Educator, visual artist, musician, walking jazz encyclopedia. My dad's passion and joy for the creative life--for jazz especially--and for helping others tap into their own creativity, was infectious.

I loved watching him collaborate with my husband, Chris, on projects with Seed Artists, where Chris is creative director. Dad created the signature artwork for three music festivals and led Seed's listening sessions at the Montclair Public Library (MPL) and The New School.

At the time of dad's death, Seed and the MPL were preparing for the October 12 opening concert for the Peter Bodge & Seed Artists Jazz Library, a collection of several hundred jazz books that he collected over decades and donated to the MPL. I so wish my dad could be there to see this project come to life. He was honored, and so excited.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to Seed Artists, to bring live music, film, lectures, and kids' programming to the Peter Bodge & Seed Artists Jazz Library and beyond.
