Dearest family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that we reach out to you. Our father, a man who means so much to us and many others, currently lies in the hospital on life support. On June 1st, he had just gotten off work when he was discovered crawling on the floor, seeking help. Although he could speak, his body was refusing to respond. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where it was determined that he had suffered a stroke. Placed on life support, he was airlifted to Vancouver hospital. Following surgery to alleviate swelling, his condition did not improve after 24 hours despite medication. Another surgery was necessary to remove brain tissue and prevent further pressure and damage to the brain stem. Upon waking from this surgery, he began communicating through blinking and hand squeezes. He appears to recognize everyone and seeks comfort by holding our mother's hand, his beloved sweetheart. The doctors are hopeful for his recovery, but he will be left permanently disabled and unable to drive, meaning he will no longer be able to drive his truck, which is his profession. There is no clear end in sight to his hospital stay, and his rehabilitation will take place in Vancouver, where we do not reside. We will be constantly traveling to be with our mother for emotional support, as no financial assistance is provided for accommodations, meals, or transportation, as well as no income coming in for a while. In this trying time, we humbly ask for any possible financial assistance you can provide. We know our dad’s strength and determination know no bounds as he pushed himself to the limit to crawl for help; we know that he will push to get through this. We are thankful for all the prayers and continue to ask for them; we believe that God has a plan and we place our father's fate in His hands. May you all be blessed.
