Pete Heyrman Award Scholarship

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Pete Heyrman Award, a scholarship was founded to honor the award, past recipients and Pete's teammates and coaches who created it.  We are working together with our community, friends & family to continue the tradition of presenting a scholarship to each year’s recipient of the Pete Heyrman Award.  

The Pete Heyrman Award is a unique award given to a senior athlete on  the Munising Mustangs varsity football team who possesses the following:

1. Courage  2.  Tenacity  3.  Character  4.  Spirit  5.  Loyalty  6.  Perseverance

For those that know Pete, there is no question he possesses these strengths both on and off the field. For those who haven't kept in touch with or don't know Pete, he is as dedicated to Munising Mustangs football today as he was holding that award in 1994. 

Pete Heyrman Jr. was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 2.  Now 38 years old, Pete has a dream to make an impact every year for that athlete with whom he shares his unique award.    

The Pete Heyrman Award was created to honor his selfless commitment, MD be-damned, to be at every practice, every team function, on the sidelines at every game, in every huddle & to become and remain one of the Munising Mustangs' biggest supporters.  

Please help us, and Pete, carry on his dream of giving a $1000.00 scholarship to each year's deserving recipient of the Pete Heyrman Award.
