2017 Wakefield Stray Kitten Season

Donation protected
Mlle Petalia location at 815 Riverside in Wakefield is the home of the PETALIA CAT GARDEN SHELTER – a formally registered Not for Profit Organisation (NEQ 1169111862) helping Wakefield and surroundings stray cats in need.

Since July 2012 – Petalia has helped over 200 cats. 185 have now been homed - 105 of which are local strays. We are now getting ready to tackle our 12th kitten season (2 kitten season per year – Spring and Fall); preparing to rescue and rehome a minimum of 30 kittens and 10 new adult strays through Spring and Summer 2017.

The GARDEN covers part of its operational costs and vet bills with the cat adoption fees but unfortunately – as we try to keep them as low as possible – and vet bills are high - fund raisers and generous donations from supporters are necessary for us to meet month ends.

We are now launching our 1st Spring Fund Raiser Campaign to collect sufficient funds to help the expected 30 rescues to come in the next 3 months and provide them with top of the line care for maximum  well-being including:
·         Comfortable, safe and cage free sheltering
·         Vet care as needed which includes:
                * Deworming/Anti-parasite treatments
                * Vaccination (1st and 2nd vaccines)
                * Sterilisation
                * Dentistry (as required)
                * Complete blood panel for adult cats
                * XRays or other necessary health care
·         High end, specialised nutrition and supplementation as required
·         Socialisation, rehabilitation and re-education as needed

We have estimated we will need 5 500$ to cover expenses over the next 3 months for the rescue and re-homing of 30 cats:
·         3 500$ for cat care including vet care
·         2 000$ worth of salary dollars*

*We mainly count on the phenomenal work and dedication of our volunteers and foster homes to meet our objectives. Without them, none of this would ever be possible. Experienced employees are however crucial for day to day shelter operations and maintenance and for more complex cases.

All monies and funds collected (including our donation jar) are controlled and duly reported to the Government by our accounting firm - Marcil-Lavallée. Every nickel you contribute to all of our fundraiser activites – is spent FOR THE CATS. The breakdown of funds received and expenses will be available to consult at the end of every month.

The Go Fund Me site campains are very structured and controlled. The funds collected through Go Fund Me are administered by Marie-Sophie Bourque, President of the Petalia Cat Garden Shelter.

On the behalf of our Darling Rescues – we thank you dearly for all the love and support!
