****AUGUST 2025 UPDATE: FLOWER SEED STOLEN - PLEASE HELP****
On August 1st, 2025, my car was broken into and a large quantity of seed (approximately $2,000 worth) was taken. This collection has been built over years. It was due to be planted this coming fall and spring, for the floral pollinator sanctuary, so that doors can open to the public next summer (June 2026).
What was stolen:
- Specialised heritage and native flower and food seeds that had been acquired at seeds swaps and community events that are irriplacable
- Bought seed stocks, seen in the attached pictures of our invoices
- Generous donation of seeds from West Coast Seeds to help us with our project (seen in pics)
As this loss is processed, we want to make sure that these seeds are replaced ASAP so that we can still meet our planting deadlines and welcome you all to this flower fantastical in summer 2026.

About Jess
(Founder of Wings & Wildflowers Society, Presenter of The Petal Paradise)
You may recogonize me as your friendly neighbourhood flower fairy, geurilla gardening side walk patches, or as a Butterflyway Ranger installing pollinator habitats around Vancouver.
I have been bringing the dream of a pollinator paradise-flower festival into realisation for 7 years. To create meaningful change for polliantors and people, so that we all have a fantastical space to play, luxuriate and invigorate in. Every third bite of food you eat wouldn't be possible without a pollinator. Globally, about 75% of the world's leading food crops depend, either directly or indirectly, on animal pollination. So sanctuary for them is sanctuary for us and you're making a massive positive impact by helping this project.
Since 2018 I've put in countless hours, money, smiles, tears, fears, courages and the rest to get closer and closer to launching this bad boy! In 2025 things have reached a critical mass where a great piece of land in Tsawwassen, BC has been secured and the stage is set to launch this flower festival in summer 2026 - now I would be so incredibly grateful to have your help to push it over the line!!!
About the project
We're raising funds to create a floral eco-sanctuary for our pollinators - bees, hummingbirds and butterflies. Right now we are renting some farmland in Tsawwassen (Delta), BC. Our ultimate goal is to buy land to set up a vast wildflower habitat, complete with native and nectar rich flora. It will be established to provide feeding, breeding and shelter grounds for these magnificent animals.
The aim is to create a flower festival around this magical wildflower wonderland for humans to also enjoy, and learn about the critical role of pollinators in our world. The festival is an outlet through which to celebrate the natural world, de-stress and enrich the mind, while also teaching new skills with workshops.
Activities and engagements:
- Workshops (gardening, beekeeping, yoga, crafting, wellness etc.)
- Seminars on pollinator life, their role in food security and soil health
- Living floral sculpture competition
- Lawn games for adults & children
- Cut your own bouquet
- Maze - sunflower/corn
- Sensory interaction: aroma, textures, color (think pet me, smell me, eat me plants)
- Connection with nature
- Raising pollinator awareness and care
Where your generosity fans a flurry of flourishment in the funding milestones:
- $2,000: Replace stolen seeds
- $6,000: Water infrastructure for flower farming
- $5,500: Tractor and labour services to clear land and get it seed ready
- $18,000: Native plants and nectar rich plants and flower bulbs which will offer delicious resources for our flying friends, and sensory engagement for us humanoids. This is the amount required to plant our 3 acres at 2000 52 St, Delta (in front of Tsawwassen Mills (come say hi)).
- $6,000: Compost to improve soil structure
- $3,000: Tools to work the land
