Hi, my name is SUGAR. I am a 14 year old Bichon Frise. I have been a certified Pet Therapy dog with my mommy tour years. I have worked very hard bringing joy and love through The Humane Society of Southern Arizona for fo hundreds of young children, the elderly and sick as I visit with them in Memory Care Units, hospitals, rehab centers and the local library where kids read books to me. But now I am a bit under the weather. For the 2nd time in my life I have had to have surgery for herniated discs in my neck. The first surgery 6 years ago cost my mommy $8000.00, and she paid it off herself.  On April 12, 2018 I again had surgery to repair 2 herniated discs and another surgery on April 18, 2018 to repair a 3rd disc. I am finally back at home and I'm not letting mommy out of my sight. I took my first steps April 22 and am slowly getting stronger each day. It will probably be 6 months before I can fully recover and get back to my important job of bringing smiles and  love to all the people I visit. Mommy never wants to ask for help..its her nature, but  a friend said she should try to raise some money to defer these two surgeries as it was over $6,000. Mommy is pushing 80..don't tell her I told you, and lives on a fixed income so I know anything would help.  Mommy could have just told the doctor to put me down when they told her the cost to make me better but she loves me tooooo much to do that.
