Pesto’s Medical Emergency

Tax deductible
It has been a tough month here at the sanctuary. Our largest resident, Pesto was being treated for a foot abscess with NSAIDs. Unfortunately, horses can develop a complication known as Right Dorsal Colitis. Based on her history and symptoms the vet believes this is what is occurring. The medications used to treat this are quite expensive because she weighs more than 2000lbs. This emergency is coming just as we have Franklin and Fergal hospitalized. Thankfully both are doing well and we are looking forward to their discharge. I know it is a lot to ask and you have always been there for us. Pesto is pretty tough and we think she can pull through with an aggressive medical management. It is possible it is not RDC. The more diagnostic tests the vet does the clearer the dx will get. Hopefully. I will update each step of the way. She has an ultrasound and exam today later this afternoon.
