Perry Ritter Woodwind Repair in NYC Fund

Donation protected
Hello Everyone,

Like many of you during the pandemic, the past several months have been difficult for my family. New York City and the performing arts community were hit with a devastating blow from the virus. People are struggling to recover. My husband, Perry Ritter has been the sole owner and craftsman of a woodwind repair shop in New York City for 40 years. He has repaired and maintained instruments for thousands of jazz and classical musicians. His customers are musicians from the New York Philharmonic, Broadway productions, the band on “Saturday Night Live”, music teachers, club musicians and student musicians.

People with alternate places to live have left the city. Broadway theaters, Lincoln Center, City Center and most other performing art venues will be closed through January 2021. The mass migration of people and dearth of productions is resulting in very few customers at Perry's shop. He hopes to keep the shop open and help musicians and their instruments get into top form when they trickle back to the city and venues open up again.

Perry has been back in the shop since the beginning of June and less than a quarter the usual number of customers have brought instruments in for repair.  Up to this point he has paid the business bills through a small PPP loan and unemployment which ended once he returned to work. The funds he hopes to receive will cover costs of running the shop for 6 months. Monthly expenses are $3,474.
They are rent & utilities: $2,752, phone & internet: $370, travel and parking fees: $352
As mentioned, those costs are to keep the shop open, not salary. He is hoping enough customers will bring their instruments to the shop for him to take a salary. The business may qualify for a $500 grant from Go Fund Me #SmallBusinessRelief.
All funds raised will keep Perry from closing his doors permanently.

New York City is distinguished by its varied, abundant and rich music scene. Perry's work provides a foundational support for musicians. He has often heard musicians say, "I hope you're not planning to retire soon!"
We are grateful for your donations and say thanks very much for helping Perry stay in his shop so musicians with their instruments can continue to play great music in NYC!

Wishing you all the best!
Andrea Ritter
