Perry Go Fund Me

Hello, We are Patti Nix, Jana Troutman and Jessica Logsdon. We've known Juilet her entire life. Juliet's mom, Denise and Patti have been friends since 1st grade. Jana and Jessica are Patti's daughters. We've always known Juliet and we want to help them in any way we can. That is why we are starting this Go Fund Me.

Jennifer Wittenauer is Juliet's sister. She was kind enough to give us the following paragraphs which explain why we are fundraising for this remarkable family. She did an amazing job.

Hello friends and family,

The Perry family is in need of our support! First, and foremost, we need to send prayers, good vibes, healing thoughts, or whatever form of positivity we have.

Second, because of the world we live in, Brent and Julie need support in the form of money. This was not an easy decision, and neither would consider asking for help in this way if the situation wasn’t so serious.  Brent is proud, and Juliet is fiercely independent. If there was another way to make sure they could afford Brent’s care, this Go Fund Me wouldn’t be happening. It’s simply impossible with the pieces stacked as they are.

For those who don’t know, Brent was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with a “very aggressive” form of kidney cancer, clear cell renal carcinoma, after a collapse at work. We’re all grateful for his coworkers and employer who ensured that he quickly made it to the hospital. Once there, the tests began. Brent has a large tumor in his kidney that is causing him tremendous pain and putting pressure on an artery. In addition, the cancer has spread to his lungs, and ribs already. Over the course of less than one week, the tumor in his lung grew an inch, and he has blood clots in his legs. This beast is not going to go down easy, and the Perrys are giving it all they’ve got.

In addition to chemotherapy/immunotherapy, Brent will need a very complicated, risky surgery, requiring stopping and restarting his heart 3 times. Finding the appropriate surgeons and facility has proven to be yet another significant challenge, and it looks like the family will need to travel to another state to get him the care he needs.

Meanwhile, Juliet can’t be both at work and caring for him. She is on a leave of absence, but her employer would only provide an unpaid leave.

Only two years ago, Brent married my sister, Juliet, becoming a stepfather to my niece and nephew. My niece adores Brent like a father, the only real father she’s known. Her heart is shattered by this turn of events as are my nephew and his oldest daughter.  Just as they began to relax into their newfound happiness, this beast has come roaring toward them like wildfire.

Doesn’t it always seem that cancer comes for the best of us, sent from the Devil himself? I don’t think I’ve ever seen Brent without a smile. He works tirelessly, in spite of living with crohn’s disease. He has jumped in to care for stepchildren, not once, but twice, in his life. It’s a complicated role, but Brent steps up and back, in and out, takes the burdens and gives healing words, as naturally as breathing. His reward was the love of those children, and the addition of a grandson.

I can say it isn’t fair, but that changes nothing. Brent and Juliet have both endured more pain and trauma in their lives than so many, yet they continue to remain hopeful and think of the pain of others. Please pray, and please donate to help them weather this storm.
