Permanent Resident Card
Donation protected
Hi - I'm sure a huge number of people that I'm going to send this to know myself and Brian very well so I am asking all of you for your help.
We both came to Canada 20 years ago along with our children and Brian was told upon landing that the only thing he would need was the "Landed Immigrant Status document" that he was handed when he landed - They said (Immigration) "Don't ever lose that piece of paper because you won't be able to fly. (It has had a permanent place in the back of his passport ever since.)
We have never been on a foreign holiday since we landed and didn't know that there is now this card that you need to prove you are a permanent resident.
So .. we booked a holiday and had a great time in Mexico BUT when it was time to come home and Brian showed all his documents - they said where is your PR card. (Well he didn't have one) - Long story short, Brian is now stuck in Mexico and we are quickly running out of funds to get him home. I reluctantly came home after 4 days of being there and trying to sort things down there, but it's very difficult with the language barrier both over the phone and with all the websites that I have visited.
WestJet will not help us, Expedia will not help us and I'm getting the run around from every government agency that I've spoken to. This PR card is $50 and looks identical to your driving licence - accept it says "Permanent Resident Card" instead of "Driving Licence" - that is the only difference - BUT he can't come back into Canada because he doesn't have this card.
We've spent over $2,000 in the last 4 days staying in another hotel and on a flight to get me home so I can try and do something from Canada instead of from Mexico. - I just want my husband to come home, go back to work and be with his family - any donation however small is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance :)
