“Support me and my family adjust our immigration status”

Hello, I am Beatriz Batres, I am a Community organizer for immigrant rights.

I came to this country in 2014, after being in family detention with my son.

I started organizing within detention with other women, and since I left detention I have fought against immigration detention, to close detention centers and I am part of different organizing efforts to support my community.

After almost 9 years I finally won my asylum case, but even with the support I’ve had, it has been difficult to be able to complete my status adjustment process (permanent residency). I am the primary provider for my family here, and in my country of origin I care for my mother who suffers from chronic conditions and unfortunately this year I was also given a chronic diagnosis ;(

It has been difficult to navigate all of this, the election results have been a trigger for stress and anxiety (I have a diagnosis of PTSD). Once the new government takes over, surely cases like mine and others will be affected by the wait times. This is why I am here today asking for your support to cover the costs of the applications for our adjustment of status (residency) and the costs of medical exams for me and my family (there are 3 of us who must make the adjustment) and the costs adds up to an approximately to $10,000 including the percentage that is paid to this platform.

I considered and thought a lot about creating this request for funds, I grew up always solving everything alone, in these years I have learned that I am part of a community and I always tell everyone that they are not alone. Today I also want to be able to remind myself that I am not alone, that I am part of a community that supports me and my struggle, please consider making a gift or offering to support me with whatever you can, it will be of great help and this will allow me to continue supporting and fighting our immigrant community. “Apoyenme a mí y a mi familia a ajustar nuestro estatus migratorio”

Hola, soy Beatriz Batres, organizadora comunitaria por los derechos de los inmigrantes.

Llegué a este país en el 2014, después de estar en una detención de familias junto a mi hijo.

Empecé a organizarme dentro de la detención junto a otras mujeres. Desde que salí de detención he luchado contra la detención de inmigrante, para cerrar los centros de detención y soy parte de diferente esfuerzo organizativos para apoyar a mi comunidad

Después de casi 9 años finalmente gané mi caso de asilo, aun con el apoyo que he tenido ha sido difícil poder concluir con mi proceso de ajuste de estatus (residencia permanente). Soy la proveedora principal de mi familia aquí y en mi país de origen. Mi mamá sufre de condiciones crónicas y desafortunadamente este año también me dieron un diagnóstico crónico ;(

Ha sido difícil navegar todo esto, el resultado de las elecciones ha sido un detonante de estrés y ansiedad (tengo un diagnóstico de estrés postraumático). Una vez que el nuevo gobierno asuma el mando, seguramente casos como el mío y otros se verán afectados con los tiempos de espera. Es por eso que hoy estoy aquí solicitando de su apoyo para cubrir los gastos de las solicitudes de ajuste de estatus (residencia) y los costos de exámenes médicos para mí y para mi familia (somos 3 que debemos hacer el ajuste ) suman una costo aproximada de $10,000 con el porcentaje que se paga a esta plataforma.

Consideré y pensé mucho en crear esta solicitud de fondos, crecí siempre resolviendo todo sola, en estos años he aprendido que soy parte de una comunidad y siempre le digo a todos en mi comunidad que no están solos. Hoy quiero también quiero poder recordarme a mí misma que no estoy sola, que soy parte de una comunidad que apoya y se cuida entre sí, por favor considera hacer un regalo u ofrenda para apoyarme.
