We are honored to share our vision for LAND OF SABA — a regenerative permaculture and holistic health sanctuary located in Kending Saibel, between Tujereng and Sanyang in The Gambia.

LAND OF SABA is more than a project. It is a living vision dedicated to ecological regeneration, holistic wellbeing, education, and community empowerment.

OUR STORY

Our journey began in 2023 when we started searching for a piece of land in The Gambia that still held a rich diversity of flora and fauna and offered the potential to become a thriving regenerative ecosystem.

When we discovered LAND OF SABA, we immediately felt its unique spirit. Since 2006, the land has been lovingly developed and cared for by a conscious and dedicated couple whose work transformed it into a flourishing oasis. Today, the property is home to mature trees, diverse palm species, medicinal plants, abundant wildlife, and a peaceful atmosphere that reflects years of stewardship and respect for nature.

Their devotion laid the foundation upon which we now continue to build.

THE LAND TODAY

LAND OF SABA already possesses an impressive ecological infrastructure, including:

-12 solar panels providing renewable energy

-2 deep boreholes and 1 deep well

-1 natural pond connected to an existing water treatment system

-Ecological wastewater treatment

-Irrigation systems throughout the property

-7 water cisterns

-A three-chamber composting system

-Existing gardens with mature fruit trees and palm species

-Two caretaker houses serving as the current operational base

These elements provide a strong foundation for the next phase of development.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to create a thriving syntropic food forest, medicinal herb gardens, and a holistic living sanctuary where nature, health, education, and community come together.

Guided by the principles of Permaculture and Syntropic Agriculture, we aim to regenerate soil fertility, increase biodiversity, improve water retention, and cultivate abundant food systems that support both people and planet.

At the same time, LAND OF SABA will serve as a center for holistic wellbeing, offering opportunities to learn and experience:

A core aspect of our mission is education.

We believe that knowledge, practical skills, and self-sufficiency create lasting change. Rather than offering temporary solutions, we aim to empower individuals and communities through workshops, trainings, and educational programs focused on:

-Sustainable agriculture

-Permaculture and syntropic farming

-Natural nutrition

-Medicinal plants

-Waste reduction and environmental stewardship

-Holistic health practices

We envision working closely with local schools, community groups, and international visitors to create meaningful exchanges of knowledge and culture.

OUR NEXT STEPS

The first and most essential step is the expansion of our syntropic food forest through large-scale tree planting and medicinal herb cultivation.

To support this, we have established the LAND OF SABA Tree Partnership Program, inviting people around the world to sponsor trees and become active participants in the regeneration of the land.

As the project develops, we plan to create:

Holistic Infrastructure

-A covered Yoga and movement platform

-Changing rooms and storage facilities

-An outdoor workshop kitchen for natural nutrition and herbal preparation courses

-A calisthenics and movement area

-Renovation of the natural pond and ecological water filtration systems

-Bathroom and sanitation facilities

HOLISTIC HEALTH CENTER

A holistic health center with approximately four treatment rooms where Gambian and international practitioners can offer services in:

-Traditional Gambian Medicine

-African Herbal Medicine

-Natural Nutrition Coaching

-Homeopathy

-Somatic Therapies

-Yoga Therapy

-Meditation

-Energy Healing

-Capoeira Angola

-Permaculture Education

GUEST ACCOMODATION

-Two guest houses for retreat participants and visitors

-Renovation of existing caretaker houses

TREE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

Our Tree Partnership Program allows supporters to directly contribute to the growth of the food forest.

Through a tree sponsorship, participants receive:

-A personalized tree certificate

-A ceremonial tree-naming ritual

-A video recording of the planting ceremony

-The opportunity to dedicate a personal intention to the tree

Every planted tree contributes to biodiversity, food security, carbon sequestration, soil regeneration, and community resilience.

wir freuen uns, euch unsere Vision von LAND OF SABA vorzustellen – einem Ort für Regeneration, Permakultur, ganzheitliche Gesundheit, Bildung und Gemeinschaft im Westen Gambias.

LAND OF SABA ist weit mehr als ein Grundstück. Es ist eine lebendige Vision für eine nachhaltige Zukunft im Einklang mit Mensch und Natur.

UNSERE GESCHICHTE

Unsere Reise begann im Jahr 2023, als wir auf der Suche nach einem besonderen Ort in Gambia waren – einem Landstück mit bestehender Biodiversität, altem Baumbestand und dem Potenzial, sich zu einem regenerativen Lebensraum weiterzuentwickeln.

Mit LAND OF SABA fanden wir genau diesen Ort. Seit 2006 wurde das Gelände von einem bewussten und engagierten Paar liebevoll gestaltet und gepflegt. Über viele Jahre entstand eine grüne Oase mit einer beeindruckenden Vielfalt an Palmenarten, Fruchtbäumen, Heilpflanzen und natürlichem Leben.

Ihr Einsatz bildet heute die Grundlage für unsere Vision und die nächste Entwicklungsphase dieses besonderen Ortes.

DIE AKTUELLE INFRASTRUKTUR

LAND OF SABA verfügt bereits über eine solide ökologische Basis:

Unsere Vision ist die Schaffung eines syntropischen Waldgartens, eines Heilkräutergartens sowie eines ganzheitlichen Lebens- und Gesundheitsraumes.

Basierend auf den Prinzipien der Permakultur und der syntropischen Landwirtschaft möchten wir:

-Nahrungssysteme schaffen

-Lokale Gemeinschaften unterstützen

Ein zentraler Bestandteil unserer Arbeit ist Bildung.

Wir sind überzeugt, dass Wissen, praktische Fähigkeiten und Selbstversorgung langfristige Veränderungen ermöglichen.

Daher möchten wir Workshops, Schulungen und Bildungsprogramme für lokale Schulen, Gemeinschaften und internationale Besucher anbieten zu den Themen:

-Permakultur

-Syntropische Landwirtschaft

UNSERE NÄCHSTEN SCHRITTE

Der wichtigste erste Schritt ist die Erweiterung unseres syntropischen Waldgartens durch umfangreiche Baumpflanzungen und den Aufbau eines Heilkräutergartens.

Dafür haben wir das LAND OF SABA Baumpatenschaftsprogramm ins Leben gerufen.

Darüber hinaus planen wir:

-Renaturierung des Teiches mit ökologischem Filtersystem

Ein Gesundheitszentrum mit etwa vier Behandlungsräumen für:

-Traditionelle gambische Medizin

-Afrikanische Pflanzenheilkunde

-Ernährungsberatung

-Homöopathie

-Somatische Therapien

-Yogatherapie

-Meditation

-Energiearbeit

Unterkünfte

-Zwei Gästehäuser für Besucher und Retreat-Teilnehmer

-Renovierung der bestehenden Wächterhäuser

UNSERE VISION

Im Zentrum von LAND OF SABA steht die Überzeugung:

-Wahre Veränderung beginnt mit Regeneration – des Bodens, der Gemeinschaft und des Menschen.

-Wenn wir gesunde Ökosysteme schaffen, fördern wir gesunde Gemeinschaften. Wenn wir Böden regenerieren, schaffen wir neue Möglichkeiten. Wenn wir uns wieder mit der Natur verbinden, finden wir auch zurück zu unserer eigenen Gesundheit.

Dieses Projekt ist nicht nur Landwirtschaft.

Es ist Regeneration.
