Support Permaculture Education in Jerash Camp
My name is Cath and I'm raising funds to go to Jerash Camp in Jordan at the end of January 2025, to teach Permaculture Principles and Design to a group of Palestinian women living.
This project aims to equip these long term refugees with the knowledge and skills required to identify and implement low input, sustainable systems and strategies which address the challenges they face on a daily basis, including access to clean water; affordable, nutritious food and safe management of waste.
By providing ongoing education and mentoring, the project aims to instil resilience and support self determination to those living in very difficult situations as well as resourcing small scale projects which can be replicated throughout the camp.
Please help me to help them . Any donation, however small, will be much appreciated.
Jerash Palestinian refugee camp was set up as an ‘emergency’ camp in 1968 for 11,500 Palestine refugees who were displaced from the Gaza. By 2023 the number had grown to 35,557.

Permaculture is an ethical design science based on the patterns of nature, which can be used in any context or climate. I've been a practitioner for many years now, managing a Learning and Demonstration site, Adrian's Croft on the west coast of Scotland. I did my Permaculture Desgn Certificate with Geff,Lawton online and recently completed a Permaculture4Refugees Teacher Training course. Last year, I consulted on a year long project taking permaculture education to women agricultural workers in rural Pakistan, Permaculture Gardens of Resilience
which was funded through a grant from the British Council.
I now have an opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with Palestinian Refugees in Jerash Camp, Jordan, in partnership with SamaGaza, a grass roots, youth led, non profit organisation, which relies on volunteers to deliver their community programmes. We have no external funding for this project which is why I'm asking for your help..
I am happy to donate my time and talents so am asking for donations to help cover the costs of my return flight from Scotland and my accommodation for 2 weeks in Jerash near to the Refugee Camp. I am also asking for for finance to hire a 25 seater bus to take participating refugees to visit local permaculture sites to inspire and enhance learning; to provide meals and refreshments for 25 participants for 10 days; for materials and equipment for learners and for funds to bring local practitioners to the camp to build connections, and to compensate them for their time.
Thank you so much for your support
