Protect 5 Million Girls Across Africa: A Multi-Year Campaign Through 2030

I’m Victoria Boston — a believer and advocate for women’s equity.

In the fall of 2023, I traveled to Kenya and met a group of high school girls facing an unimaginable reality… missing five to seven days of school every month simply because they didn’t have access to menstrual supplies.

Falling behind wasn’t about ability. It was about access.
  • Some used rags.
  • Some used newspapers.
  • Some had nothing at all.

Bright, determined girls forced to miss school because of something as natural as their cycle. I knew I could not walk away.

What began as a mission to support 2,500 girls has grown into something much larger.

Today, my global campaign, "The Garden of P.", is launching a multi-year effort to raise $2.5 million by 2030 to protect over 5 million girls across Africa.

This is Phase 1. Here’s how it works:

Reusable period panties cost just $0.14 each at wholesale.
Each girl receives three—providing long-lasting, dignified protection.

With volunteer-led education and community partnerships, we can protect one girl for approximately $0.50.

That means:
  • $0.50 protects one girl.
  • $50.00 protects 100 girls.
  • $500.00 protects 1,000 girls.

This is extraordinary impact with minimal overhead.

Why Africa First?

While menstrual inequity affects every continent, Africa carries a disproportionate burden. Millions of girls miss school each month due to lack of menstrual products and sanitation access.

By 2050, 1 in 4 people on Earth will be African.

Protecting Africa’s girls protects the future workforce and global economy.

What Are Period Panties?

Period panties are reusable, washable underwear designed with built-in absorbent layers to safely replace disposable pads and tampons.

They:
  • Are leak-proof
  • Last for years
  • Require no monthly repurchasing
  • Provide reliable protection in low-resource settings

For girls without access to affordable menstrual supplies, they offer something simple but powerful:

Consistency.
Confidence.
Dignity.

Why Period Panties?

Reusable period panties:
  • Are washable and last for years
  • Reduce environmental waste
  • Eliminate recurring monthly costs
  • Provide dignity and confidence

This is not a short-term fix.
It’s a sustainable solution.
