**LOGLINE**

A gregarious but self-conscious 19 year old girl's quest to achieve beauty perfection fuelled by her social media addiction, threatens to alienate her impressionable younger sister when she is rejected by the boy of her dreams, leading her to question her own self worth.

SYNOPSIS:

On the night of the big party, Viv, a gregarious but self-conscious 19 year old strives to achieve perfection fueled by social media to impress Oscar, the boy of her dreams. Foundation. Mascara. Eyeshadow. Lipstick. More Mascara. More Lipstick. She will never be satisfied. Watching her every move is Emmerson, her impressionable 9 year old sister who wants nothing more than to be just like her. But Emmerson's attempt to praise her beauty only inflames Viv’s insecurities, provoking derision that further expands the chasm in their relationship. When Viv is rejected by Oscar in favour of another superficial social media obsessed girl, she cracks under the weight of social expectations. As her self worth spirals into an emotional crisis, it is Emmerson's innocence that rekindles her ability to see her true self and reconnect with her sister's love and appreciation.

THE GOAL:

My name is Isabel Hutchinson, I am an emerging film maker in my final completion of studies at the Queensland School of Film and Television. I'm proud to announce I will be directing my chosen screenplay Perfect Illusion that I wrote late last year. I'm very privileged to be collaborating with my talented cohort to bring this production to life, alongside my amazing tutors and dedicated crew volunteers. We will commence shooting in mid May and hope to raise $2500 to fund our project.

DIRECTORS VISION AND MESSAGE:

In todays world, we are surrounded by the unavoidable influence of social medias beauty expectations, controlling how we look and value ourselves. These trends are not only affecting young women, but are now suffocating the adolescent lives of our younger generations. Which leads me to my inspiration of the creation of my film. The idea stemmed from my own personal experience growing up as an older sister in a world heavily influenced by social media, and witnessing the effects had on younger generations. My motive behind Perfect Illusion is to highlight how the media has shaped our perception of reality and redefined beauty. I intended the story to highlight the impact of the social media on young females, prompting audiences to reflect on how it has morphed our perception of beauty.
