Hi,

Most of y'all reading this might already know me as “the funny guy who dances on TikTok” or as “the guy who loves to dance while he works at that one coffee shop,” or you might even be a close friend of mine who’s seen me through all of it!

But, for those who don’t know me or my situation…

I’m Percy (he/they). I’m a trans guy living in New Orleans, LA, and I’m in desperate need of gender affirming top surgery.

Most of the people who know me today would probably describe me as a “positive guy” and in many ways, I think this is because I’ve had to be. As a trans person born and raised in the deep south (Houma, LA), it hasn’t been easy. For most of my adolescent life, I was paralyzed by the fear of coming out and dealt with the immense guilt of hiding such a large part of myself from my closest friends and family. Slowly but surely, over the past 5 years, I have developed the courage to leave all that behind, live my truth, and even start my medical transition.

Coming out and fully accepting myself for who I am has been the hardest I've ever done but also the most rewarding. Today, I am a year and a half on hormone replacement therapy, and I have never been happier.

That being said, the sad truth is that most days, I’m still very uncomfortable in my body and deal with terrible gender dysphoria that stops me from doing so many things that I want to do. I wear tight chest binders that restrict my breathing and hurt my back daily. I wear layers and jackets to cover my chest even in the hottest of summers in Louisiana. I avoid going to pools, the beach, and sometimes, on my bad days, even the mirror. Every day without top surgery, it feels harder and harder for me to keep being that “positive guy.”

After having multiple consultations with different clinics, it has become very clear that I won’t be able to afford this on my own. The quotes I have been given for surgery alone have ranged from $10,000 to $16,000. Which honestly feels like the most intimidating number in the world but, I’m trying to remain positive & trust that my community will help me carry the weight of this overwhelming burden.

Top surgery would be nothing short of life-changing for me, and if you donate to my fundraiser, please know that you have truly helped to -change someone's life today. Words cannot describe my appreciation for your help and kindness.

Special thanks to the friends who encouraged me to start this fundraiser and reminded me that there are people in your corner, even when you feel your lowest. Xx
