Thank you for taking the time to read about a project that is very important to me! Our team is in the final stages of preproduction for “Perceptance”, my thesis film at The New School, which we begin shooting in a month from now, May 5th, 2017.
"Perceptance" is a story inspired by the real experiences of a close friend and the events that led him to call Union Square Park his home for 5 years. The film follows Dashan, a high school student in New York City, as he becomes homeless, after feeling he isn't accepted by his religious mother due to his romance with his bestfriend Jay.
Out of the 1.6 million homeless youth around the world, 40% are LGBTQ and many deal with neglect, abandonment and abuse, which casuses them to live on the street. This film will try to speak to one of those experiences, in hopes to provide a better understanding to what these people go through.
Your contribution to this project will allow our team the resources to make this film to the best of our ability:
- Permits for prime New York City locations
- Footage is stored and backed up on secure hard drives
- Art Department has the materials to dress the set and actors
- Our professional all-volunteer cast and crew is supported for three, 12+ hour days (i.e. meals, transportation, etc.)
Any donation is greatly appreciated and extremely helpful. Your contribution makes you a partner in this project and your name will be in the film’s credits!
I am very lucky to be working with some of my closest friends to create this film:
Assistant Director: Harrison Sheehan
Producer: Hannah Rose Ammon
Cinematographer: Luke Marcus Rosen
Assistant Camera: Devan Davies-Wood
Sound: Patrick Hodge
Casting: Uly Schlesinger
Production Design: Gabby Bernstein
Creative Director: Nick Kellman
If you aren't able to donate, we completely understand. Sharing the link on Facebook or with someone who might be interested would be very helpful!
Thank you!
