On Thursday, March 10, the Slowey family received life-changing news.
Sweet, spunky, two-year-old Cassidy was diagnosed with Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), a blood cancer most common in pediatrics.
Megan stopped working abruptly to care for Cassidy, supported by generous Northwell colleagues who volunteered their PTO. She will continue to be out of work for an extended period while she supports Cassidy during intensive treatment to beat the disease. Please help support Cassidy, Megan, Chris, and big brother Mason as they navigate this challenging time. Donations will help cover the exorbitant costs of ongoing care not covered by insurance while allowing the family to heal together.
A note from Megan:
Cassidy was suddenly diagnosed with B-cell ALL. Cassidy started intensive chemo right away and is expected to be in the hospital for roughly one month before a long road of chemo care at home for the next 2 to 3 years. Our lives have been turned upside down in a matter of days. We caught it early, and it is the best of the worst-case scenario.
She is strong. She is happy and in good spirits. Just as spunky as ever.
