Pepper’s Surgery & healing journey
Donation protected
This is immensely difficult for me to do as I’m not one to ask for help- but I could really use it this time- I’m putting my pride aside for my fur baby.
I adopted my baby Ausky (Australian Cattle Dog / Husky) girl Pepper when she was only 2 months old. She just recently turned 2 & shortly after this, I noticed her limping. After it not going away and only getting worse, we went to the vet. Unfortunately, the vet diagnosed Pepper with Patellar Luxation. It’s a genetic deformation she was born with, but didn’t show until now as she’s fully grown. There are 4 grades of this deformation (4 being the worst) and sadly Pepper has a grade 4 Patellar Luxation. Basically her leg is not structured correctly as the knee cap is out of place causing all her tendons and ligaments to be out of place. The only correction is surgery.
If Pepper does not get surgery it’ll cause permanent damage to her joints, tears in her ligaments, can affect her hips, and result in severe Arthritis. In order for my fur baby to go on to live a full and happy life, surgery has been scheduled.
This surgery is intensive and expensive as it requires a specialized orthopedic surgeon. Peppers surgery will be about $4,500 - that’s without her pain medications and physical therapy she’ll need after wards for her recovery. This is an immense financial strain for me that I was not expecting not to mention the time, energy, and dedication it’ll take me during this long healing journey even after surgery. We have a long 3-5 months ahead of us.
I love Pepper with my entire heart. She’s my registered Emotional Support Animal and is the best companion. She loves to swim, hike, run, and play fetch. Any help at all is appreciated more than you know. Please help me get my baby back to doing what she loves.
THANK YOU- from Pepper and Cheyenne
