Hi — I’m Ally. I rescued Pepper 5 months ago and it’s been a wild but wonderful whirlwind. In the first month I had her, she got brutally attacked leading to an emergency vet bill where they had to make sure her shoulder wasn’t fractured, she had to wear a cone for 5 days because of the puncture wounds and it ended up being $1,416.60 in medical bills. Since then there have been stressful incidents that have tested my strength and patience more then I ever could have imagined as a first time dog owner. Sure, I knew there would be accidents. But it somehow feels like I can’t catch a break and it’s breaking my heart. I got home to 6 vomit stains on my rug yesterday afternoon and a $559.35 trip to the emergency vet (and $40 worth of Ubers later), I was told to bring her to her normal vet this morning which is going to cost over $2,500.00. They had to do X-rays, an ultrasound and monitor her with IVs and meds and still can’t identify what is backing her up or what she got into but they know she is full of diarrhea and gas constructing their view of the blockage. AND I have to bring her back tomorrow. Nothing was out of place at my apartment and I’m not sure what is making my girl so sick. If you know Pepper, you know she is a friendly, sweet, sometimes spastic girl. She has been a shell of that for the last 24 hours. She’s just a puppy and I’m still learning how to take care of her but this is another unforeseen incident I did not mentally plan for that was out of my control. I am at my wits end and this is the last thing I want to do. I know there are a million worldly things going on that we can all donate to… but as an artist struggling to make ends meet as it is, these medical bills have completely wiped me out. Everything is going toward these expenses. I would be forever grateful for anything. Pepper and I hope to see you all soon. And she is getting pet insurance, tomorrow.
