I have waited over a year to adopt another dog in addition to my dachshund, Cooper. Exactly two days ago I went to a high end pet store and paid nearly 2,000 for a puppy that I absolutely fell in love with. His name is pepper. A day after I got him, I noticed he was vomiting and having really bad diarrhea. I noticed he wasn’t acting like a puppy, but instead was wanting to sleep ALL the time. I got nervous quickly and notified my local vet. He tested positive for parvovirus which is a disease that infects the animal’s intestinal tract. Without vet care, young puppies become fatally ill rapidly due to the loss of nutrition and pass away from emaciation and dehydration.  Pepper has been home with me for not even 2 days and is in critical condition at the veterinary hospital  right now at Virginia Tech. My other option was euthinization but I just can’t bring myself to do it, I love him so much already. I decided to hospitalize him to give him the best care possible. His medical bills are going to be $1,500 or above, depending on how he responds to treatment. I NEVER ask for help from anyone, but I spent 2,000 on this baby thinking he was healthy, and now i’m hit with 1,500 bills that I quite frankly can not afford. They are due at discharge even if he doesn’t survive  Every single dollar helps. Even if you can’t donate, PLEASE spread the word, I’m doing everything I can for him. I was out from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. at vet’s offices last night and have to pay $800 this morning to start off. I have all paperwork that confirms estimated pricing and him testing positive for the virus.
