About My Mom’s Mind
My Mom’s Mind is a not-for-profit organization founded in honor and continued in memory of Barbara J. Martin.
Mission Statement
The mission of My Mom’s Mind is to provide financial assistance to individuals living with Alzheimer’s or dementia who face financial hardship due to the high cost of specialized care. These individuals do not qualify for Medicaid and lack access to family support or caregiving.
The average cost in Ohio to live in a specialized dementia care community is $4,000 - $10,000 per month, depending on the level of care. This cost is not covered by typical insurance plans or government assistance, and can easily bankrupt the average family.
Funds raised by My Mom’s Mind help ensure that individuals can remain in their specialized care communities—living out their lives with dignity, safety, and the support of qualified caregivers.
Community Programs
Through strategic community partnerships, My Mom’s Mind is developing supportive programs for families and caregivers of those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia. These programs include:
- Financial planning resources
- Health and wellness initiatives
- Elder care education
- Awareness and support networks
- Incentives for specialized dementia care workers
Non-Profit Status
My Mom’s Mind is currently awaiting IRS approval for 501(c)(3) non-profit status. If approval is not granted, all funds raised will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association. Donors will be notified of the status of their contributions for tax purposes.
