On January 1st, I set out on a journey across the Lower-48 states: a quest to get to know People, Places, and Birds of the American Birding World.
Since then, I’ve reached my target of 100 species in 45 states (plus Washington, D.C. as a bonus), birded alongside hundreds of fellow birders, and experienced countless breathtaking places—both for their birds and their spectacular beauty.
In just a couple of weeks, I’ll complete my final state in Washington. From there, I hope to keep the adventure alive through the end of the year, revisiting the West Coast and Southwest to continue to get to know their People, Places, and Birds.
I’ve been traveling simply and living frugally—stretching my resources as far as possible by sleeping in my car and eating as cheaply as possible. But as the months go on, those funds are running thin. If you’d like to help sustain this journey—whether that means fueling more miles on the road, contributing to car maintenance (like the brake work I will probably need sometime soon), or allowing me the occasional upgrade from rice, beans, and pasta—I’d be deeply grateful.
Every bit of support helps me continue sharing this adventure and celebrating the incredible birding community across the country.

Thank you for being a part of this journey!
