Who I Am and How the Funds Will Be Used
My name is **Luis Fernando Jiménez**, also known in the international paragliding community as **Lucho Jiménez**.
I am Colombian, originally from Manizales, and I have been a paragliding pilot for approximately **30 years**.
I want to explain clearly why I am organizing this campaign, what my relationship with Roldanillo is, and how every donation will be managed.
My connection with Roldanillo
I am not personally or directly related to the families who will receive assistance, and I am not a beneficiary of this campaign.
My connection with Roldanillo comes from the paragliding community and from more than 16 years of working closely with the town.
For the past 16 years, I have organized paragliding competitions and international flying activities in Roldanillo. During that time, the town became an important part of both my personal and professional development.
Together with pilots, organizers, local businesses, drivers, hotels, restaurants, landowners and many other members of the community, we have helped build an international paragliding destination.
Paragliding tourism has brought thousands of visitors to Roldanillo and has contributed to creating employment and economic opportunities through accommodation, restaurants, transportation, guiding services and tourism.
It has also helped give the region a new international identity: one based on sport, nature, community and tourism, rather than only on the difficult history of narcotrafficking and cartel violence with which parts of Colombia were previously associated.
Roldanillo and its people have welcomed the paragliding community for many years.
Today, after the earthquake, this is our opportunity to give something back.
The funds are not for personal use
We want to be completely clear:
**The money raised through this campaign is not intended for my personal use, for Airnomads, or for any unrelated personal or commercial activity.**
I will not receive a salary, commission or personal financial benefit from the donations.
The funds are intended exclusively to support families in Roldanillo and northern Valle del Cauca whose homes were severely affected by the earthquake.
Professional assessment of the affected houses
A professional team, including an architect and engineers, is completing a technical assessment of the affected homes.
The team is documenting:
- The condition of each house
- The extent of the roof damage
- The condition of the walls and roof-supporting structure
- The surface area that needs to be covered
- The materials required for each intervention
- Whether the building can safely receive a new roof
- The vulnerability and urgency of each family
This process is essential because every house is different. Materials will not be distributed randomly.
The assistance will be based on verified needs, technical feasibility and the funds available.
Our plan: up to 35 m² of UPVC roofing
Our objective is to provide selected families with **up to 35 square metres of UPVC roofing material per household**.
Depending on the technical assessment, the support may also include the essential components required to install the roof safely, such as:
- Ridge pieces
- Screws and fixing systems
- Seals and waterproofing components
- Timber or metal supporting elements
- Other structural materials directly connected to the roof installation
The exact quantity and type of materials provided to each family will depend on the size of the damaged area, the condition of the house and the recommendations of the architect and engineers.
A roof is the first essential step.
It stops the rain from causing further damage. It protects the walls, furniture, clothing, school materials and personal belongings that families still have.
We may not be able to rebuild every house completely, but we can help provide a safe roof so that each family can begin rebuilding its home from the inside.
Direct payments to manufacturers and suppliers
The campaign funds will not be distributed as unrestricted cash to individuals.
The money will be used to pay verified manufacturers and authorized suppliers directly for the UPVC roofing sheets and related structural materials.
Payments will be made **directly from Germany to the selected manufacturer or supplier in Colombia**.
This procedure will create a clear and documented financial trail, including:
- Supplier quotations
- Technical specifications
- Purchase orders
- Invoices
- Bank-transfer confirmations
- Quantities of materials purchased
- Delivery records
- Beneficiary households
- Remaining project funds
Whenever possible, the materials will be purchased from Colombian manufacturers or suppliers, supporting the national economy while reducing unnecessary transport costs and delivery times.
### The role of the Cloudbase Foundation
We have added the **Cloudbase Foundation**, a nonprofit organization based in the United States, as beneficiary and partner in this initiative.
At the time of this update, the Cloudbase Foundation has also raised approximately **USD 44,000** for the affected communities.
These funds will complement the donations collected through the GoFundMe campaign.
Both fundraising channels will support the same relief project and will be managed transparently through the **Cloudbase Foundation’s bank account**, following the same administration, purchasing and documentation process.
The procedure will include:
1. Professional assessment of the affected homes
2. Verification and prioritization of beneficiary families
3. Calculation of the required roof area and structural materials
4. Collection and comparison of supplier quotations
5. Selection of verified manufacturers or suppliers
6. Direct payment to the supplier
7. Documented delivery of materials
8. Follow-up on installation and project progress
9. Transparent financial reporting
Our commitment to transparency
We will publish regular updates showing:
- The amounts received through both fundraising channels
- The total funds available for the project
- Platform, banking and currency-conversion costs
- The suppliers selected
- The quantities and prices of materials purchased
- The families selected for assistance
- The number of square metres of roofing delivered
- The progress of the installations
- The remaining balance of the project
Invoices, payment confirmations, delivery records and photographic documentation will be retained.
At the same time, we will protect the privacy and dignity of the families receiving assistance.
Our commitment is simple:
**To provide a safe roof, so families can protect what remains and begin rebuilding their homes from the inside.**
Roldanillo has supported and welcomed the paragliding community for many years.
Now we have the opportunity to stand with Roldanillo.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared the campaign or contributed to making this project possible.
**Every donation brings another family closer to having a safe and dry home again.**
