We are here to raise money for the Peo Dog Sanctuary in Phuket, Thailand.

I met Peo years ago while i was wandering around Phuket island on my scooter, riding without a helmet and maybe barefoot on a hot humid day in Thailand. It was paradise at the time. I saw this little tiny old lady walking through the jungle and escorted by maybe an army of 40 dogs. I could not resist i had to get to know this character .

She lived in a shed in the jungle with no electricity, gas and she was the sharecropper on the territory.
I was very happy and pleased to have met the “Queen of the Forest” The jungle was her kingdom, and the 40 dogs were her courtiers.
Ever since I have spent every winter in Phuket working on the santuary. It was my pleasure, my duty and the highlight of each trip to visit Peo and help to maintain the good living condition of her and our dogs.

Behind the scenes this simple genuine healthy way of living had his costs. I began holding fundraising parties to have extra money to help Peo feed and keep the dogs healthy and help cover medical expenses. Everything had a simple organization. And Peo was the queen.
FEBRUARY 2014
Peo was getting older, she did not know her age, I guess she was over 70, her health was deteriorating. She was diagnosed with osteoporosis. She passed away in her sleep surrounded by her 4 paws friends, family, and courtiers.
That morning was incredible - all the dogs at the kingdom were reunited around the house, very silent as a result of the sadness and the respect they had for the loss of their leader.
SinceThen the kingdom still exists and it’s called today “Peo’s Animal Sanctuary”, in Italian “la Collina della Peo and in French “le Jardin de la Peo.

I have inherited a duty towards the dogs, to find a way to let them live in the hills with a new dog lover and without a fence.

We are now responsible for the whole Sanctuary which today has 24 dogs.
It has become very difficult now that Peo has passed- she was the fulcrum that lifted the weight of responsibility and logistics.
It’s a struggle to run this Project with no regular budget. Every month we need to make sure we can gather money from the same old friends and often out of pocket to carry on what we believe is a rare example of shelter with no kennel.

Future Plans facility improvement what your donation could do ;)
On the land there are 3 big sheds and the house for the dog taker. They are all falling apart and when it rains, they flood. Every shed has to be properly repaired to make it rain and weather proof.
-Shelter #1 - The job consists of replacing the existing roof, installing a concrete floor and raising it to avoice flooding, repairing the enclosure, electrical upgrade.

- Shelter #2 - It's amazing that it still stands! Rebuilding the whole shed, installing concrete floor and wood platform to avoid flooding, and electrical improvment.

-House of the Dog Taker - Today it's impossible to live in the house. Lek, a worker and lover of the santuary had to physically evict a python. The lodge has to have the roof replaced, the sides enclosed without any holes, a cement floor, electrical work, a new toliet and an indonesian shower.

-Shelter #3/Dog Kitchen - This is the shelter where the dog food is perpared, a very well loved area. Its amazing to watch how polite these dogs are when they eat. Every dog patiently waits for his bowl. The existing roof has to be replaced, repairs to the enclosure , wood platform to be built to avoid flooding and electrical work.

-Build a new smaller shelter.
-Install a security camera
-Replace Water Tank
-Buy an old car, to help assist with transporting materials to the land.
Conclusion
I am trying to share this project with all of you .
If we can raise the money necessary for the repairs and the needed improvements for the Sactuary, I commit my own expenses to travel to Phuket and be the supervisor of the execution of the works. I am ready for it. During my last stay in December 2015 we got estimates for the whole intervention.
Your aid can make a big change for the quality life of these dogs…. they already have a good dog life, we have to maintain it.

Sincerely,
AmbassaDog Tattini
