Pentagon Police Officer George Gonzalez

Donation protected

On behalf of fallen Pentagon Police Officer George Gonzalez, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on the Pentagon bus platform August 3, 2021.

At the age of 37, he is gone too soon.

Our family is heartbroken over the death of our son and brother, but we are so extremely proud of the life he lived. George devoted himself to serving his country in the military and as a law enforcement officer. He started out as a solider in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of sergeant and served with distinction in Iraq. He then served with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Transportation Security Administration. In 2018, he became a Pentagon Police Officer.

As the world watched, we grieved

As our family watched they utterly unexpected, heart-wrenching news on television August 3rd, we never imagined that the young police Officer, lying motionless on the pavement, was our own beloved son and brother, George. And we could not imagine the grief we would bear when New York’s finest from the NYPD came knocking on our door to solemnly inform us that George had passed and was now gone. These police officers, too, bore our sorrow: because the law enforcement community, the thin blue line, is a band of brothers and sisters, who share a special bond.

We are proud of George

Although our family must find a way to carry on without him, all of us fondly remember how proud we were to see George graduate from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. We remember how proud we were to see this devoted son of Brooklyn sworn in as a Pentagon Police Officer, while taking a solemn oath to protect our country from “all enemies foreign and domestic.”

We also remember, with respect and gratitude, his military service in the United States Army, and how happy we were to welcome him home after combat duty in Iraq. And now, with a heavy heart, we welcome home our #1 Yankee fan once again: to his final resting place.

We would like to thank everyone, nationwide, who has shared with us their condolences during this difficult time. Your continued prayers mean more to us than anything. If you would like to make a donation in honor of our son and brother, we have established this memorial fund. From the bottom of our hearts, we say, Thank you!

Sincerely,

The Gonzalez/Rubert Family
