Penny's Rising Medical Costs
Donation protected
Penny is a very well known member of our community, and if you spend time in Escondido you've maybe seen her out and about. A quirky weimaraner, valued companion, and beloved shop dog, she takes her roles and friendships seriously (and with a head toss and nose boop). Simply put, she's the goodest girl.
This year she turned 12 and we have been battling the effects of aging. We recently worked with her vets to get her just the right meds to help her pain and mobility, and then last week she began to slowly decline. The vet found she was anemic, and further found internal bleeding as well as a mass on her spleen and one on her liver. They're recommending surgery to remove it. The cost of the surgery is over $8000, and we've spent nearly $1500 already to get her blood levels back to more comfortable levels. Now that she's on the mend she's acting more like the perky happy pup we've been able to enjoy for over a decade.
We, Mom and Dad, don't feel she's ready to say goodbye, but in her current condition anything could change at any moment. We are heavily weighing out our options while we determine how to give her the best quality of life.
No matter the path, we have an expensive journey ahead of us. Any help we can get to relieve the financial stress is so appreciated. We know Penny has a lot more love to give her friends and customers, and we would like to help her give it.
Frankly, we're scared of the what's ahead of us and are trying to get ahead of anything we can.
