I have avoided doing this for seven months, but--as much as I hate to admit it--I need help.
When I was six months pregnant, I was diagnosed with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP- http://www.icpcare.org/what-is-icp/overview/). This resulted in weekly blood draws, extra OB appointments, and extra ultrasounds.
Ultimately, I was induced early due to the onset of pre-eclampsia and the potential of fetal distress/potential stillbirth.
Penny was delivered happy and healthy (thank goodness), but was transferred to Kosair at two days old due to a meconium blockage. She was able to clear the blockage without surgical intervention (again, THANK GOODNESS) and is now 7 months old and as healthy and strong as ever.
However, the lab fees, extra appointment costs, extra ultrasound fees, prescription medications, ambulance ride, and Penny's NICU stay (combined with all the typical induction/birth costs) have become more than I can manage.
I've been back and forth with the insurance company, the hospitals, the labs, and everyone else I can think of, but at this point I don't foresee being able to pay off these bills before Penny gets to college.
As most of you know, I am a single mother. Her biological "father" is not involved and is not providing any support, financial or otherwise. I like to think that I can do it all on my own, but in this case I truly can't.
I know there are many others who are in worse situations and I hate to ask this of my dear friends and family, who have already given us so much. But if you can find it in your hearts to help us out, it would be such a huge weight off my shoulders. I appreciate each and every one of you and your support--financial and otherwise--more than you will ever know.
